Don’t Be The Last Link In The Chain
Did you know that you have the responsibility to re-teach everything that God has taught you?
Think about it.
In the Great Commission Jesus says it really clearly. He says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”
So part of fulfilling the Great Commission is to literally take what God has taught you, and reteach that truth to someone younger in the faith.
What if you took that mindset into your next Sunday morning? Or Bible Study? Or quiet time? What would change? What if you asked the question, “What will I do with what I heard today? Who will I reteach this truth to?” These type of questions spark wildfires of discipleship in the church.
2 Timothy 2:2 summarizes this well.
"The things that you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses go and entrust to faithful men/women who will teach others also."
Paul gave us His practical process of entrusting the gospel to faithful men/women who would pass it on to others. He actively created links, one person to the next and so on. Paul to Timothy, Timothy to Faithful People, Faithful People to Others… This process has led directly to you and I hearing the Gospel and following Jesus today.
Paul heard the command - to teach what he had been taught - and he took it seriously.
Disciple making is a gift from the Father to His followers. He has included us in the process of helping others know Him and then invite them to join in the work of reaching the lost, wondering and disenfranchised man/woman for the cause of Christ.
The question you must ask yourself is "Will I be the last link in the chain?"
